Unlike many traditional agitators, the VISCO JET® agitator system offers many benefits, particularly in explosion hazard applications. The most important of them are:
1. Bearing/bearing bracket: No additional bearing or bearing brackets are required for the VISCO JET® agitator system. There are therefore no additional sources of ignition in this area.
2. Seals: The ATEX regulations allow radial seal systems with a circumferential shaft speed < 1 m/sec in the seal area. The VISCO JET® agitator system is always well below this value.
3. Constructive safety: Because of the very low radial forces in the shaft area, the VISCO JET® agitator system offers a much higher level of constructive safety than traditional agitator systems.
4. Shaft guide bearings: Where used, shaft guide bearings can be very dangerous (source of ignition, wear and tear etc.). With its much lower radial forces, the VISCO JET® agitator system does not require these mechanical fixtures in most applications.
5. Flow-through: The so-called flow-through phase is particularly critical and, in accordance with ATEX regulations, only allowed in zone 0 in compliance with the relevant operator and procedural regulations and compliance with the criteria covering intended use. Here too, VISCO JET® agitator systems, which use single-level mixing elements mounted close to the ground, offer several benefits.
6. Additional container fixtures: Additional container fixtures such as current breakers introduce additional sources of ignition. VISCO JET® agitator systems do not require such fixtures.
